Discovering You

A quiet adoring smile

And bright unique eyes

Peering out at me

From strands of long hair

Falling down over the face

I have come to admire.

I see hopeful days up ahead

That I thought were lost to me

The feelings inside I thought were dead

Open up in a wide blue sea

My stomach twists

But I'm not sick

I clench my hands into fists

But I'm not angry

My heart hammers in my chest

But I'm not running

My mind is racing

But I'm not taking a test

I feel like I can fly

But I don't have wings

I want to sing

But I can barely speak

You just walked by me

And smiled
