Please Smile (poem)

Please Smile
Written April 12th, 2012
My sweet angel
With eyes so bright
Please don’t cry
Have no worries tonight
I’ll always be at your side
No need to ask why
Please smile; joyous and wide

My sweet angel
With hands so soft
Please don’t cry
Let me wipe the tears
From your grey-blue eye
My heart is yours
To keep through all the years
That you have chosen me
Fills me with pride
Look at me, handsome one
Please smile; joyous and wide

Magic and Mystery (a poem)

Magic and Mystery
Written August 1st, 2011
Your compelling eyes; a strange marine color
Flirt with my skin
Settling on my neck, my lips, my eyes,
And then start again
Without a single drop of wine
I'm drunk, it seems
Blissfully happy, lacking complete thought
The world and its problems;
They don't matter so much today
When you and I occupy the same space
It all just fades away...
You must be a wizard
A strange inhuman being
For your fingers are charged with fire
Leaving behind a pleasant burning
Wherever they go
You're something otherworldly
A unique and shimmering soul; this I know

I Am Not Afraid (a novel) Chapter One

Began writing on April 9th, 2011
Chapter One
First Visit

The first time I saw him, I was nine years old.
My sister had had a bad dream, and asked me to come sleep with her. Our parents were gone for the weekend, and out brother’s girlfriend had come over at eight and they hadn’t come out of his room since.
I was only two years older than her, but I guess when you’re scared any kind of company is better than none.
She had come into my room at about midnight, shaking me awake. I had followed her blearily into her room, crawled under the covers, and promptly fell asleep again.
I woke up at three a.m., and to this day I can’t really remember why. There was no loud noise, no bad dream, and no sudden movements. I just opened my eyes and there he was, standing at the foot of the bed.

The Monster in My Memory (a poem)

The Monster in My Memory
Written March 21st, 2011
I remember you
The face carved into my mind
Forever
I know it won't fade
A persistent stain
I remember us
How you kissed me
Held me
Your hands burning my skin
You said you loved me
I had never had anything like you
I was starved for love
Clinging to you
You were life, breath in my lungs

Just A Little Too Close (a poem, intended lyrics, dedication)

Just A Little Too Close
Oh sweet child
With you gentle smile
I know you mean well
But my heart is the land
Of another man

[refrain]
I saw a lost and lonely soul
That needed someone to know
I gave you my hand
And as I pulled you up
You slipped and managed to land
Just a little too close

*Angels (a poem)

Angels
I was certain that I could hear beautiful angels singing in that moment
As the dying sunlight streamed in through the window
Lighting up the green and underlying gold
Of your hazel eyes… so captivating
It was as though even the angels were envious
As you kissed my lips so gently, so carefully
Were you afraid that I might break into a million tiny pieces?
