Procrastination Poem (a poem)

Procrastination Poem
Written February 24th, 2012
I do not want to do homework!
Two essays by Monday, you ask
Such a tedious, boring task
On America’s smoggy industrial histories
On top of worksheets full
Of logarithms and matrices
A paper dancing with symbols and numbers
With every new Pre-Calc term I learn
I just feel excessively dumber!

Oh, the hours I waste, toiling away
With headaches and pots of coffee to achieve
Stellar grades on material to be forgotten a year from today
I have great purple mountains
Against prismacolor sunsets on my mind
Visions of summer paradises with sparkling fountains
Begging to be written on any scrap I can find
Fantastical worlds of crystalline imagery
Powerful renditions of a childhood memory

But alas! I have homework!

Rooms (a poem)

Rooms
Written February 22nd, 2012
Music drifts down the halls
Piano crescendos and saxophone solos
Electric guitar screams and soft flute dreams
All spinning down the corridors
Inviting passerby to dance

One can listen in the lounge
A bright cozy room with plush rugs
Vivid expressionist paintings line the walls
By the soft warm hearth she can socialize
Or dance to the tunes drifting in from the halls

The Flipside (a poem)

The Flipside
Written August 25th, 2011
There’s pictures on the wall
Of my adventures far away
The maps and photos, tickets and brochures
Receipts printed in French and letters from home
It’s hard to look at it all
Without catching my breath as I remember that day

See that postcard off to the side
Along and out of the way?
Greetings from Munich
A sunset glowing behind a silhouetted city
Flip it over, there’s a message, I tried and I tried
To send it to you; but it remains here to this day

Midnight Mango (a poem)

Midnight Mango
Written June 30th, 2011
There is a fruit, waiting in the fridge
An international treat
That I’m particularly fond
It will call me at midnight to eat

Quite a nuisance to peel and carve
But I smile as I set it on the board
It’s a task I’ve come to enjoy
For at the end is the sweetest reward

Destructive Cyle (a poem)

Destructive Cycle
I can scream
At the dead white walls
Up into the hopeless gray sky
Into my defenseless deaf pillow
            The walls will remain silent
The sky will only begin to cry
My pillow will lie resentfully from my voice’s torment
None of them will do anything
            To stop you from going

Ode to the Pencil

Ode to the Pencil
Written April 6th, 2011
Pencil
A bridge between
My thoughts
And tangible paper
As my dreams get bigger
You get smaller
I'll wear you down
Right to the nub
And you won't complain
For that is your purpose.

Opposites Attract (a poem)

Opposites Attract
Written April 1st, 2011
Pristine white
Neat, orderly
Blue lines across
Pink lines down
Perfect, untouched
Pure
Inviting, tempting

Night black
Shapely curves
Sharp lines
Uneven, random
No perfect repetitions
Messy
Creative, meaningful

Pen tip presses
On smooth white paper
What was previously
Empty
Pristine
Is now
Filled
Charmingly askew

This neat page; my messy scrawl
A perfect pair.

Elusive (a poem)

Elusive
Written March 21st, 2011
I see it there
Shimmering before me
An iridescent wisp in the air
I have to be quick to snatch it
Before it goes away
Scattered by a tiny breeze of distraction
It won't stay

My Addiction (a poem)

My Addiction
Written March 8th, 2011
My pen is the portal
A wormhole from my mind
To this page
It helps me find
A way to express
My imagination's stage

My pen fits in my hand
Like it was made to be there
Creation suits my fingers best
Converting everything I think
To solid tangible ink
My heart spilled on paper

I do not know if it's genetics
Ink hereditarily pulsing in my veins
Or some random aesthetics
Graced to me by an unknown power
All I know is I can't stop
My thoughts from blooming on this page like a flower
                                                               Writing is my addiction

New Notebook (a poem)

New Notebook
Written March 3rd, 2011
I hold in my hands
The prettiest notebook
I ever did see
My mind racing with plans
Of things to write that will be worthy

Betrayed (a poem)

Betrayed
-Written February 27th, 2011

I sit here before this blank page
A threshold to emotional release
An entrance to my mind
For all to interpret

And yet I cannot describe
What's inside
For once I am speechless
Empty
It's strange for me
Because words are my specialty

*The Ocean of Empty Souls (a poem)

The Ocean of Empty Souls

As the bus turns into school
I see the kids on the corner
Smoking their life away
Flirting with the technicalities of law
Where will they be in ten years?
